Thailand’s capital Bangkok is a real feast for the senses, and is popular with backpackers and tourists who want to experience this city’s culture and nightlife.

Of course, the nightlife is one of the first things people think of when they think Bangkok, and you certainly won’t be disappointed.

With classy cocktails bars alongside the infamous Soi Cowboy, there’s something for everyone in Bangkok.

Many people will also associate the city with the antics from The Hangover 2, and you can actually visit the rooftop bar (Sky Bar) which was used in the film.

There is a whole other side to Bangkok though, with many holy places to visit such as the temples at Wat Arun and Wat Pho, which you can get to on the Chao Phraya river boat.

Just remember if you do visit any of the temples that your legs above the knee and shoulders should be covered (this goes for men as well!).

You’ll also find some excellent food options, whether it be chicken skewers from the street stalls or an upmarket seafood restaurant, you’ll be taken aback at just how cheap everything is!

Finally, the city also caters to shopaholics, with lots of quirky street stalls and the high-end shopping centres such as MBK and Terminal 21.

Weather in Bangkok is generally split into two seasons, wet and dry with the dry season running from late October until March.

It’s best to visit during this time, although bear in mind that it is hot all year round, with average highs of 31°C in the hottest month of April, and 26°C in December.
