Famed for its spectacular skyline, and the iconic Statue of Liberty, New York is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the US and a real melting pot of cultures.

The majority of your sightseeing will take place in Manhattan, where you’ll find the bright lights of Times Square and the hectic pace of Wall Street.

For shopping, head to Macy’s or Bloomingdales, and for a great night out check out the trendy Greenwich Village or SoHo.

But there’s also plenty to do outside of Manhattan. For example, you could go and see a Yankees game in the Bronx, or head to the famous funfair at Coney Island in Brooklyn.

And if you want to head even further afield, out of the city, you could visit the spectacular Niagara Falls or try some wine tasting at Finger Lakes.

In terms of weather, New York can get fairly hot during the summer, with highs of 28°C from July to September, although the winters can also get bitterly cold, with temperatures often falling below freezing, making Spring and Autumn the ideal times to visit.

Bear in mind that New York is served by three airports, JFK, Newark and LaGuardia. The majority of international flights will arrive into JFK, which is located about 19 miles south-east of Manhattan with train, bus and subway connections, or you may wish to take a taxi, although this will depend on the traffic of course.

Alternatively, Newark is located over the river in New Jersey, 10 miles south-west of midtown Manhattan, while LaGuardia is nine miles east, in Queens.

Why Fly First Class?

If you are heading to New York, why not upgrade to first class? First class passengers get their own private cabin, where you can watch some of the latest movies, choose something from the gourmet food menu, or lie down in your own fully flat bed and rest up before you arrive in the Big Apple.
