With regular direct flights from the UK to San Francisco, it’s never been easier to visit the Golden City with Globehunters.

A truly colourful and vibrant city, San Francisco isn’t just a great city to visit in its own right, but it’s also a great gateway to the wider Bay Area and the rest of California.

Whether you want to cross the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, check out the sea lion colony at Fisherman’s Wharf or head over and visit Alcatraz Island, there’s plenty to see and do in San Francisco.

Once you’re done sightseeing for the day, the city is also home to some great nightlife, with the Mission District being the hub of the city’s wine bars, beer gardens and live music venues.

San Francisco Airport is located about 13.5 miles south of the city centre, with the BART direct rail link offering easy access to the city in about 30 minutes.

You could also choose to hire a car, which you could then use to explore further afield to places such as the Napa Valley vineyards or the picturesque coastal city of Sausalito.

Why fly first class?

It’s a long flight to San Francisco, so why not upgrade to first class, and make things that bit more luxurious and relaxing, to allow you to arrive feeling refreshed and ready to go?

First class passengers get access to a range of perks such as their own private cabin, a fully flat bed with mattress and duvet, gourmet food menus and complimentary drinks, and access to their own lounge before take-off, so it’s certainly worth considering.

Popular Routes

The majority of flights from the UK land at San Francisco International (SFO), although there are also limited flights to the nearby Oakland Airport (OAK).

There are direct flights from London Heathrow, with the average flight taking around eleven hours, with Virgin Atlantic set to launch direct seasonal flights from Manchester beginning in March 2017.

From elsewhere in the country there are lots of indirect routes available, although these will of course take longer.
