Those with kids should head to Gold Reef City where you can step back in time and have a fun family day out. Learn about the gold mining rush, go on one of the rides or watch a 4D movie. Another attraction families will enjoy is Johannesburg Zoo, here the animals are confined by moats not cages.

For a few moments away from the busy city centre make your way to the Botanic Gardens. Many people come here to escape the heat of the day and wander through the seven districts of different types of plants. For some of the best views of the city make your way to the top of the Orlando Tower for breathing 360-degree views of Johannesburg.

The Cradle of Humankind is an amazing site you should see while in Johannesburg. It’s been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 and is about 50 kilometres outside of the city. Head to Constitution Hill if you want to learn about how democracy in South Africa developed and get a tour of a prison. If you fancy placing a few bets then visit the Montecasino, here there is a fine selection of restaurants and you can enjoy some great shows. There are also plenty of events held in Mary Fitzgerald Square in the city centre, sit back and relax in a cafe while you enjoy some live music.
