With unrivalled natural beauty, Krabi is certainly a destination for those who want to see the unspoilt splendour of Thailand. With roughly 150 islands and islets around the Krabi coastline, including Ko Phi Phi Leh, where The Beach was filmed, the province has an idyllic feel.

Explore these islands yourself, hopping from beach to beach, or stay on the mainland and discover the incredible national parks that are scattered across the province. However you choose to see Krabi, you will be in awe of its spectacular sights.

Krabi isn’t just about natural wonders, it offers a lively and vibrant nightlife with hotspots all over the province such as Ao Nang and Railay.

You can experience authenticity when you visit Krabi Town which maintains its untouched feeling, despite its popularity with tourists.

A little outside of the town, you will be able to see how nature and architecture combine to create the spectacular Tiger Cave Temple. Parts of the temple are set within the cave where it was once said to be home to tigers, hence the name. You can then climb to the summit of Tiger Cave Temple, ascending 1,237 steps to the top where you will be greeted by the Buddha statues and a breathtaking view.

If you’re an animal lover, don’t miss the Krabi Elephant Sanctuary where elephants who were once used for cruel tourism practices now find their respite.

When to Go

Throughout the year, temperatures rarely dip any lower than 20ºC and the tropical weather provides a consistent heat that can climb up into the mid-30s between February and May.

The rainy season in Thailand falls between May and November and can bring with it heavy rains for days on end with October usually seeing the most rainfall.

From November to February, you can find the best of both worlds, making this a great time to visit. This time of year offers comfortable temperatures without the particularly wet weather. This is when the island is at its busiest as the temperatures start to rise after February, often becoming too hot for most tourists.
