It’s impossible to list all the amazing things you can do in the Big Apple but there are a few famous sites that most travellers try to see. New York is ideal for all types of traveller, whether you want a romantic city break, cultural holiday or prefer to party the night away you won’t be disappointed with NYC.

Central Park is an obvious place to visit, a famous park that’s provides a calming escape from the crowded city. It’s an iconic park that features in many films and TV series, relive scenes of Phoebe and Rachel from friends jogging round the park. You can get horse and cart rides around the park if you are feeling romantic but the best way to see the entire park is by bike or by foot. If you visit in winter you can go ice skating or in the summer you might want to hire a rowing boat for an hour or so.

Times Square is buzzing at all times of the day, you have to set foot here to get a feel for the spirit of New York. This scene is featured in countless movies, it’s very crowded, noisy and busy but it’s the epitome of NYC and something you definitely have to experience.

For a humbling reminder of the events of 9/11 visit the 9/11 Memorial Centre where you can see the twin towers tribute and the new World Trade Centre. Take a walk down Wall Street and see the NYC stock exchange building.

Whilst you are in New York you need to see the city from above. Some of the best places to see the city skyline are the Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge and the Top of The Rock. Try and go on a clear day, sunset is a good time to see views of the city but night time is also breath taking. On a sunny day, walk the ‘highline’ (a disused railway track, no more than a mile long) that ends up in the Meatpacking District/Chelsea market.

The New York Public Library is also worth a visit, it’s a lovely old building and you can walk round for free. It’s another landmark featured in many movies. Some other sites you should try and at least walk past in New York include Grand Central Station, Radio City and The Plaza Hotel.
